Ronnie

Acrylic on canvas, 2026
30 × 40 in.

This painting is an homage to Moonstruck, drawn from Nicolas Cage’s character, Ronnie, imagined many years later, in the same extended moment as Loretta.

He arrives alongside her.

If Loretta carries the openness of the moon and the music rising, Ronnie carries the cost of it. There is force in him. The energy sits closer to the surface.

His right hand is gloved. The bakery injury is part of his story. Something damaged. Something endured. Passion leaves a mark. He plays anyway.

I built him with tighter, more compressed planes. He stands grounded, almost braced, but fully present. The structure holds him the same way it holds Loretta. It gives shape to intensity and keeps the moment from tipping too far.

He stands inside what he feels.

That is where the suspension lives. The pause between hurt and devotion. Between restraint and release.

A brief reflection on how Ronnie came to be here.
