Acrylic on canvas, 2026
12 × 16 in.
This painting began with a photograph that stayed with me. Two people sitting close together, not posing, not performing. Just sharing the same quiet space.
When I paint, I pay attention to what I carry into the room. Whatever is there tends to find its way into the canvas.
In this image I leaned into structure more than sentiment. Planes of color simplify the forms but keep the closeness intact. Geometry steadies the moment without dissolving it.
What interests me most is the small space between them — the place where two lives meet and remain for a while.
Suspension here isn’t tension or anticipation. It’s something quieter.
The feeling that, for a moment, nothing needs to move.
This painting sits alongside others in the exhibition that explore small moments of closeness held in time.
