The second painting takes place after the uncertainty has passed.
The cat is no longer perched above the girl. It rests comfortably in her arms while the two sit quietly on a park bench. Nothing dramatic happens. No lesson is delivered.
That simplicity is what drew me to the image.
Children often move effortlessly between affection and responsibility. They do not separate the two. Caring for something becomes an act of attention.
I wanted the composition to feel still. The large areas of open canvas became as important as the figures themselves. The empty space allows the viewer to slow down and inhabit the moment rather than rush through it.
The geometry remains present, but softer. Less about movement and more about stability.
What interested me most was the trust. The cat is completely relaxed. The girl is fully absorbed. Neither is aware of being observed.
The painting exists inside that private space.
A portrait of trust, care, and quiet companionship.
Part of The Architecture of Kindness series.
